The Changing Face of Chesterfield 1956 to 1980 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNd0BVuYbDs#)
-
Dave posted that and another of Facebook

I know, I've captured them both. They are brilliant.
BTW, who is Dave?
-
Won't play on my lappy :(
-
It should do - its just a Youtube video.
Mind you, it might not be of such interest to a Bozer lad... :))
Just kiddin' :)
-
Fascinating :)

Dave who posts on the Forum occasionally with bank PIN after his name. Hosted Chesterfield Chat before Facebook was invented, could have been a billionaire.

He's just uploaded them as mentioned here (probably the best local group on Facebook)

Not watched them in full yet but from what I've seen so far they are fascinating.
At the time of photographing many of these must must have seemed like quite mundane photos but thankfully someone had the foresight to take something that has such historical interest.
Some interesting historical buildings were replaced by boring square ones and it's lucky that the fascias on Lower pavement were retained when the indoor precinct was built.

How long does the video footage last?
Brilliant what I have watched and excellent naration, but need to make sure I have enough time to watch all the rest of it before I put it on.
-
They run for about an hour and a half.
-
I know one of them was about an hour 40 minutes, not sure of other one yet
-
Not got as far as the credits yet but I believe it's George Martin who used to go round giving slide shows

Or possibly an old woodwork teacher from William Rhodes, one or the other

George Martin was a teacher at Wm Rhodes when I was there in the 60s.
