Ever since I moved here I've wanted a cat again....and that's 8 years ago now. Because of our former landlord it wasn't possible earlier, but our new
landlord is great and there was no problem when we asked them if we could get a pet.
So I've kept my eyes open for a furry friend in the need of a new home. At first I wanted a kitten, mainly because kittens are easier to deal with
and raise. They are no influenced by anyone else in the same way as adult cats are...but at the same time there are so many unwanted grown up
cats out there so I decided to be a bit flexible.
And last night I found this jet black 1 year old female cat on Preloved. Her former owner became a grandparent of twins a little while back, so she's
spending most of her time helping her daughter with the babies...which meant that Miss Muffet spent an awful lot of time on her own.
So we decided to take her home with us this morning after paying a visit :)
The photo in this post was the best I could do at the time. She's still a bit shy and it's taken a few hours for her to get out of the bedroom and into
the kitchen for something to eat. She spent a lot of time under the bed at first, then under the pillows and the duvet...and when Robin had to go
to his mom about half an hour ago, Missy finally came out of the bedroom :)
I'm aware that it can take some time for her to adjust so it's nothing strange. But she's eating and she's very affectionate :) As soon as she see either
of us she start purring and "talk", so I think that the trust will grow and she will feel at home within a couple of more days or so.
If things won't sort out we can give her back to her former owner. But I don't think it'll be necessary :)
So guess who I will spoil rotten? hehehe

Robin had to go to his mom's place a couple of hours ago, and as soon as he was out of
the house she sneaked out of the bedroom with me to have something to eat :) Seems
that she's more use to women than men. Robin is kinda big and loud too...and he's got a
nasty cough right now...so he's scary...lol
So during the time he was out she inspected the rest of the place...all while "talking" to
me...hehe
Right now she's sleeping under the duvet in our bed. Food and inspection made her sleepy :)
But she's settling in nicely :)

My daughter and husband 'adopted' a male black cat who just kept 'turning up' to be fed etc.
When they first got him he was similar to yours is, but now he's become really affectionate - in fact when I go up to theirs and am sat on the settee he looks up at me and waits for me to beckon him on to my knee - he then stays there for hours (just occasionally 'nudging' me if I stop stroking him!!).
I'm sure yours will be the same given time.

And it's usually like that to begin with. I think most cats settle in surprisingly good considering that we move
them without them understanding why. No one tell them that it's about to happen...so it never seize to amaze me.
Because she always been an indoor cat she's not spayed, so in a couple of months or so it should be loads of fun. Lots
of meowing...and they get so annoying.

We have a 12 year old cat, he was my daughters but she moved out last year and although just down the street we felt he needed to stay with us.
She has now a 5 month old kitten named Sox --- guess why ;D he's a softie and loves a cuddle and aren't they just so funny when young ;D
I am sure your new addition will soon sttle down. ;D

My daughters cat is due to be castrated soon they say it stops them from roaming too far and spraying in the house Yuk!
I call him 'mardy lardy' cos he's always meowing. ;D

Something tells me that he would have been back at your door after a couple of weeks if you live that close ;)
They tend to find their way home no matter what distance. Sox sounds sweet :D And yeah, they're funny as kittens :) Some won't
grow up either. Dad had a Russian Blue for many years and although he was well past 10 years old he was playing like a kitten.
Edit:
Male cats usually stop the spraying when neutered, but not always. And yeah, it's a pain when they keep marking their territory :(

Anyone got a snake or something out of the ordinary? We've just got a couple of cats and a very beautiful rabbit, will try and get him to hold still long enough for a photo. :)

You're cats are great :D And so different...heh
How about a separate pet forum? I know I will need to find out where to get a good vet etc. at some point...and I'm
sure we can exchange ideas and things in a forum like that.

Aww....sorry to hear that :( It's like losing a family member....heck, it is losing a family member, easy as that.

We lost Harry(left) about 4 years ago, and Jack(right) last year. (Picture below)
Both to kidney failure :'(

Heartbreaking when a member of our family leaves us our treasured pets are part of our families.
Sorry you no longer you have your cat Fly.
We support St Bernards animal sanctuary at Whittington, byt taking cat food and anything we no longer want which is worth selling.
Good on you to take in a rescue cat Fly --- big hearted eh!!

Our_lass has had cats for over 30 years.
My family had a cat from me being 5 years old. The cat died when I was 23 :'(
Big hearted doesn't come into it. The elder cat deserved a home. We gave him one ;)
I'll have a dig for a picture of my mum's current cat. Twas actually mine from a kitten.
She adopted him from me. Long story. He's 16 this year.

We took some cat food to st Bernards last week and i asked if they had any kittens, only have older cats at the moment - take a lot of feeding though especially with the other animals they have --- good cause! Good people to give them a home!
