Title: Cor Blimey - it's a bit rough out side
Post by: Old Cruser on December 05, 2013, 12:43:22 PM
It's blown our village Christmas Tree down!

Hubby has put bricks on the patio table - it's blowing the bricks off.
Just skittled it across the patio so he's out there again  :-?

I am told it's blown some of the roof off tesco's in Clay Cross and it will be closed for a couple of days.
At least it's calmed down now.

Apparently Sainsbury's was closed too. I'm sure JR will correct me if I'm wrong.
I've seen fences ripped out, green houses flattened and tree branches galore this afternoon.
Took me 2 and a half hours to get from Derby to Mickley to Brimington to New Whit to Bolsover.
That's an hour longer than usual  >:(

Buses were a bit like sailing a boat, a lot of steering in to the wind.
Frightening when the power of the wind can shove many tons of bus almost on to the wrong side of the road.
Just glad I didn't have a double decker :o

Did it have fare paying passengers on it, who's safety is directly under your control  :P

We shut for about 4 hours because roof tiles were coming off and landing near the main doors. Bit hard to tell in the dark but I reckon I've lost 6-8 ridge tiles here at home

@All

Not sure if the guy wants the work, but I've used him before for ridgetile replacement etc.
He lives on our road. This link is to his business. His name is Trevor Gilberthorpe.
Just mention you know Barry, who lives on your road. Not implying you might get work done cheaper.
But his cred will sink if he's been referred to from a previous customer.

Have been told that one of the Marquees in Matlock Hall Leys Park has blown onto the band stand - it's Matlocks Christmas Market and Santa Street Parade this coming weekend.

We eventually dragged the patio set inside, it looked at one point as if we may get a brick through the dining room window  :-?

I wanted hubby to pack them away at the end of autumn - but he didn't bother  ::)

All passengers (fare paying or not) are under my control regarding safety.I guess you know that.
Same as you in your taxi.
It was just nice to get the poor sods on the bus today & sympathise with 'em.
Most of the coffin dodgers stayed indoors.
They'll be out tomorrow though.
Shame I'm off until tuesday unfortunately.
Still, never mind. ;D

I was pretty lucky in that for most of the morning i was at work til 12, don't seem to have lost tiles on our house but others on the street surely have. Another looks like they have lost the Arial from their roof... just hope its calmed down now.

I was expecting someone to call at around 7pm yesterday, he was driving from Exeter to Leeds. He arrived at 7.10 and said it had been a "bit blowy".

Drove home on Thursday, parked on the drive and thought madam had changed her mind about selling the house.  Imagine my disappointment when I found that the wind had hit the for sale notice and had sheared off the 2 by 2 timber.
