Thanks Slacker

Hope someone comes along who has been and tells us what the plans are.

Hasland  junction problems are compounded by two things -

A. Cars waiting to enter/exit parking bays outside the shops

B. Delivery vehicles parked either on the main road, or blocking the parking bays.

Those problems will still remain whatever they decide to do with the junction, so how do they propose to square that circle?

After 42 years in Local Government I know how hard it is.  But, how many times has this junction/traffic lights changed?
As I going to move to Hasland in the near future I would like this resolved.

So looking at the plan (which isnt easy given its sideways) would I be right in saying that what is proposed is to all intents
what was there before the Traffic lights were installed?

Various differences:
Closing off Chapel Lane East
Zebra crossings on raised plateaus
20 limit
Coloured surfaces
Shared spaces

Obviously it would have been cheaper to do this in the first place but it was done with the best intentions. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I'm very much in favour of shared spaces but I'm not sure that a busy roundabout is the best place for a shared space with no give way lines. There's going to be a lot of confused drivers and pedestrians in Hasland after that scheme is implemented. I'm also wondering how the 20mph zone is to be enforced.

Has anyone warned the good people of Hasland about this?  >;

500 leaflets about the meeting went to the most local addresses. Most shops also handed them out. There's also another consultation in Jan.
