Drove into town around lunchtime, the hands on the clock on the crooked spire were at something like 4:35 - the two sides I saw looked different. Did someone forget to wind it?
-
Maybe the workings have rusted with all the rain we have had!
-
Is it working yet???
-
It was when I last looked. 2.40pm today.
-
10pm this evening both Market Hall & Crooked Spire chimed at the same moment (I was near your patch on Packers Row Fly). I don't know if they have all the clock faces synchronised yet on the Crooked Spire.
It must cost a small fortune to look after/repair clock workings like that.
I'd heard, (don't know how true), that when it thundered a week or so ago that the Church was struck, the clock stopped at twenty past four, and some tiles were destroyed.

Spire clocks have been fine today ;)
-
Showing 5:55 when I drove past at 12:05 just now.
-
Been like it all day. Don't know if it stopped last night or this morning.
-
Bloody Hell, just buy some new batteries ;D

Or you could maybe shinny up there with the key ;)

Joking apart, it doesn't look good when every visitor to Chesterfield looks at the crooked spire and sees the clock telling the wrong time.
-
Maybe the workings need attention, how old is the clock? Does it have regular services?
-
Does it have regular services?
Yes every Sunday Morning!!! :D

Boom Boom ;D

Driving dow the bypass today got hubby to check out the clock - still not working!
-
Yes, I noticed it at lunchtime when it was indicating six o'clock. :(
-
Yes, still not working. Still the church attracts people. I was eating my lunch on one of the benches a couple of days ago and two german women approached the church entrance where a local bobby was talking to a church helper. The cop then duly took his helmet off, placed it on one of the girls heads, & had their photo's took.
Hats off to the local Plod :)

I can assure you that even back in the 60s, when I lived in Germany, the girls didn't have hairy armpits ;

Walked past this morning and the clock was showing six 'o' clock, that was fine, except that it was actually half past ten!!! >;
