Title: Would you agree with this ?
Post by: Old Cruser on February 07, 2014, 08:27:15 PM
Whilst standing in an electrical shop near the exit today I watched a someone who I presumed to be a member of staff  bodily scanned by security.
Standing with arms out whist security ran the scanner around the persons body.
The assistant didn't seem to mind and just walked out smiing after this was completed.

As for me I was astounded that this had been done.
I think it's degrading and looks as if assistants are not trusted.

Is it a common thing now does anyone know?

Perhaps the event was to let other shoppers see the shop has an active shop stealing policy.
You saw it, would you consider nicking from that shop.
Hypothetical OC, you don't strike me as a shop lifter LOL  ;)

No I wouldn't shop lift Fly.
The shop wasn't that busy really so maybe there was only myself who witnessed it.
Tell you what though, I would have strongly objected to something like that when working.

If you haven't done anything wrong, then you have nothing to hide.
I'm sure what you saw was just, 'One of them', incidents.

I used to work for Northern Foods and in the contract there was a statement that said that people and vehicles could be searched.

I suppose working in a shop you are in a trusted position so in the mind less likely to be caught, therefore the temptation is there.

That could be said for any work place Simon although maybe some work places have more expensive things to steal.
To do this in view of customers to me is just not right.

Agree with that, when I worked at M&S we were subjected to random (body & locker) searches, but always in the locker rooms away from customers.

I think its just one of things now adays.
Morrisons used to do on the spot security checks including checking shoes and socks....Obviously nothing else was done but if they anted to they would also chck lockers etc...
