I notice the £1.3million project of the castle is nearly completed.
It all sounds very exciting and I for one will probably visit here to see what they have achieved.
The walk along the top walls will give some magnificent photo shots on a clear day.
Hopefully it will bring along more visitors to Bolsover.

It is quite a view from there. You can see my house from it!
-
I'm looking forward to it. Despite living in Bolsover for a few years, I have never been around it.
Looks like I'll need my camera. :)

Always enjoyed a walk round the Castle years ago, remember volinteering for English heritage to do a 3day event in the grounds, great for me i got in free and had free roam of the grounds :D

When friends who haven't been to the area before come to stay, one of the first places we take them to is Bolsover Castle; they've all been very impressed. On a clear day the view is superb though these days the steps do my knees in.
-
Steps - I have wondered how many to the top of the castle for the viewing?

Not that many if i remember. You can look out over the fields without going in the tower anyway.

I would like to go to the top if possible Simon, if I make sure my asthma is ok on that day I will be ok - if not hubby will have to piggy back me ::)
No smart bum (being polite tonight cos Mr Fly Bynight might ban me :-? ) comments either from you lot :P

Not sure if you are allowed on the top. I may be wrong. I ain't paying £8-£10 to find out I can't.
Our_Lasses sister got married in the 'Keep' about 1998. We didn't even take a camera LOL. Only friends at the time.
One of my next missions is up the Crooked Spire. Not being from town, I'm more fascinated by the Spire than Boza Castle :-)

S'funny, the taxi driver who picked me up today went to Bolsover castle yesterday and thought it was really good :)
-
We'll no doubt end up going later this year. I can't make opinions of things I haven't seen.
£1.3m of work isn't a new flower bed eh :)
-
Yes we will have a trip out to take a look as well, last time I was there was when I was about 16 yrs.

I'm really looking forward to going to the castle. Once all the scaffolding has come down (has it yet?) I'm going to my friends house near Limekiln to get some silhouette shots of the castle in the early evening. I've been waiting so long for that! :)

Is the scoffolding down yet -anyone?

I think it's due to open in the next few months.
Are you calling for a cuppa, we only live round the corner ;)

Can still see some scaffolding when I drive home up Bolsover Hill.
