They are a great set of images. I'm following him on Flickr now. I saw this one showing Spiers handbag shop but they also used to sell nylons. My nana, mum and aunt all bought theirs from Spiers in size ten and a half! Mine were size elevens because I wasn't a short @rse unlike my relatives ::)

Whats the name on the large double windowed shop?

I can't make it out either Pam

Just had a magnifier on it and neither of us could see it - it 'looks' like FSS :?

Fosters?

Fosters?
Could be Pete what did they sell?
I also thought of Fads was it a wallpaper shop, but thought that was maybe on the other side of the road?

Foster Menswear. A national chain, if I recall.

I think FADS was down South Street (road down the side of Wilko's). Anyone else know?
-
Yes, it was. And Marriotts cycle shop at the bottom.
-
So was there a wallpaper shop on that street then or I am getting it mixed up with the Co-op paint/wallpaper shop - anyone remember that? it was I think opposite M&S
-
I think that's right - Fads was on South Street on the opposite side of the road.
