Just saw this Tweet:
"Alan Maris @AlanMaris
Looking forward 2 becoming a @LibDems member with a view 2 becoming a candidate 4 next years elections & helping @juliacambridge1 2 victory"
Will need lots of popcorn when next year's election is in full swing... ;)

Sit back, arms folded, nod sagely. Wait and see what transpires. Perhaps he'll be more effective >;

Is that the @Julia who told me she'd answer forum members questions, then disappeared without a trace ?
We'll probably get a better chance of an answer from Alan now LOL

Looks like Mr. Maris may be backing the wrong horse:

I think their coalition with the tories haven't done their cred much good.
I've always seen them as an undecided party. Good find Stuart :)) ;)

Be interesting to see if he stands where he lives, works or hails from.
-
Might be Hasland against Mandy unless he gets offered a safe seat for being an organiser
-
Safe seat would be where he lives ie Ashgate. That however would need him to replace Howard Borrell, Denise Hawksworth or Shirley Niblock. Unless of course one of the Walton cllrs is standing down. I doubt Keith Morgan will keep going much longer in opposition.
Hasland would indeed see him pitted against the person he sees as 'the enemy' when it comes to SOLC. Also be interesting to see if the Lib Dems try to make political capital out of the road debacle (given that last time labour tried to take the credit for the scheme that the locals now hate)
If he goes back 'home' that would be St Helens. Keith Lomas and Roy 'Zane' Pastoll did hold the seats for a while for the lib dems but I doubt theres enough momentum this time to take them back.
-
The traffic lights that they pushed for (and voted for when 5 of the 6 councillors in the community forum were LibDem) ?
From the county election only one borough seat (Walton) remains strongly LibDem though 14 months is a long time in politics and UKIP will have a big influence
