Demolition began today of East Block at Chesterfield College which was the engineering building. Sadly the end of an era which probably saw quite a few of our forum members pass through its hallowed halls in the past.
Pic taken at 7.30am this morning.

Is it just the one block Gerty, not all of it

It's the old 'East' block Pam. The one opposite the main entrance. One section of it is completely flat now. The rest will follow. The engineers and construction students are being temporarily housed in the old grammar school on Sheffield Road. There will be a new build on the site of the demolished buildings. There is also a new area built on to the old grammar school 'quad'. All very super swish and I'm sure it will be much nicer for the students. That bit of college had dodgy heating so in the winter everyone shivered in the classrooms even with coats on. Official opening in a few weeks.
I'll get some more photos of the demolition progress and put them on for anyone who's interested. :)

Thanks Gerty I would be interested to see any pictures. I don't go down that way very often

Am I right in thinking that car maintenance is now done in one of Gordon Lambs' old workshops on Lockoford Lane?
-
Yes they are down Lockoford Lane.

Looking forward to retirement maybe?
Sad to miss the new buildings being used though I suppose
