Road closed from New Tupton tonight, diverts through Wingerworth.
Main pipe burst under the garden island.
It's lifted the soil and grass up and is oozing out.
Police told is there was 4 feet of water around the roundabout.
Must admit when I went round this evening it was quite deep.
Looks like I will be diverting through Grassmoor/ Hasland tomorrow.

Nice one OC. I usually avoid that area on my way back on the school run.

I had to drive through it this afternoon on the 51's, and there was an ambulance stuck smack bang in the middle of the road. So I had my nearside wheels on the pavement (guesswork because you could not see the pavement for the torrent of muddy water), and the water started coming through the doors.
Had to shout to the passengers to lift their feet up - bizarrely they seemed to enjoy it and appreciated that I had driven through it to get them to where they wanted to be. :)
The downside is we have no water in Calow, so no bath or shower, no tea or coffee :(
Hope its resolved soon, but it was/is a huge burst. Got 51's again tomorrow - Oh Well ::)

Manic this morning!
I went via Grassmoor/Hasland and joined Derby Road at the traffic lights.
getting out of the village towards the island was chaos hence the way I went.
Joined a que on the Haag Hill and Grassmoor roundabout was snarled up after that not too bad.
It took me 45 mins to get to Newbold better than I thought when I set out.
Coming back via Grangewood estate into Wingerworth was ok.
Scimitar - we saw the 51 buses going via Hasland?
Hope your day hasn't been too stressful but I'm guessing it may have!

Forgot to mention this but last night returning home we were diverted through Wingerworth.
No problem as I know it well.

There were a few cars at the back of me - I over shot where i should have turned off ending up on an un-adopted road - with all the cars at the back of me :-[ :)) :)) :))
Ehh by gum I ad tears runnin down me legs :)) :))

Picked my sister up from Matlock this morning - foggy, came back and went via Alton to Tupton. Finally managed to get to our coffee stop (Cornerstone, Tupton) before going to see our Mum.
Son-in-law was waiting for a bus from Grassmoor into town, so gave him a lift into town before finally getting to see Mum (Hasland).
Phew!!

Oh the Cornerstone - used to be Lils and Mrs Gleesons grocery when I was a lass Alsatian ;)
Sounds you had a busy morning as well.
Derby Road from Chesterfield through to Clay Cross is now open with temp traffic lights.
I saw a number 51 bus about 4.50pm waiting at the four lane ends for the lights to change.
One very resigned looking driver!
