Title: Wetherspoons, Pillar Of Rock, Bolsover.
Post by: Fly on April 04, 2014, 08:46:25 PM
Call the chain what you like, just had a fabulous meal in there tonight.
Been with Our_Lass, my mother, and my sisters 2 girls. Sister's family over here visiting from Australia.
Sadly my sister was poorly today and didn't attend the meal with us. (Makes a change from me).
5 fish, chips and peas, 5 drinks, £26.95  8)
Best fish I've had in a long time. Even the elder kid, aged 8, ate a full adult portion.
PS. Friday is a promotional Fish night, hence the price.  ;)

We got there for just gone 5.30pm, it was rammed, and still was when we left just before 7pm.
Yes I fear for the local pubs, but how can they compete ?

We went to Bella Blue some weeks ago - needless to say we had drinks before & after in Pillar of Rock.
Had a lovely malty dark beer that was so nice - several of them in fact, hic.
It was a saturday and it was packed with social drinkers and eaters.Big up to Wetherspoons I say - they are bucking the trend and others (Marstons aren't far behind) should follow suit.
Had a cracking meal at White Hart Calow recently (Marstons), 11 of us, and all happy with what we had. Drinks reasonably priced too - wine & beer. Put it this way, the Manageress of Ringwood Hall Hotel dines at the White Hart quite happily, so I guess that says something :)
