Title: Finally, Spire clock to be sorted.

Post by: Scimitar on May 01, 2014, 10:49:56 PM: Anyways - back to the clock. Seen my mate Gordon (retired bus driver & now helps out in the church) today & he said the repairs cost £10k. The cogs that rotate the individual faces had to be re-made, and installed. Basically they'd worn out - and you can't get spares from anywhere - new ones have to be made to order. All done by a firm in Derby.
So all should be well now ( by my reckoning it's still a good minute out) :)

Post by: Pete on May 01, 2014, 11:50:06 PM: At least we'll be able to look up and get a good idea of the time. I think the state of that clock has been a disgrace for years now. Considering its on the Crooked Spire, our famous landmark, it should be right.
