Wish us luck on Monday 12th. Representatives from D.C.C. are visiting the site at approx 10.40 am prior to the meeting at County Hall Matlock.
Plenty of robust protesters will be there (I'm at work of course, but I'm sure I can rely on the Wife), - so we'll see what happens.
Baited breath.......

Read 73 times - no responses?
Cheers Folks
-
I would have been tempted to go but I have a funeral in Doncaster tomorrow.
Good luck them though.
-
I didn't have anything positive to post and thought 'Good Luck' sounded a bit patronising if that was all I posted.
Have noticed since the dates have changed haven't they changed the day of the actual meeting ?
I'll have a look in a while to clarify.

Knew I'd read it somewhere, CAGE on Facebook.
https://www.facebook.com/cage.calow?hc_location=timeline (https://www.facebook.com/cage.calow?hc_location=timeline)
So the planners have really messed up.
As they didn't get letters out in time telling all the 400+ people who wrote written objections about the date of the planning meeting they have now decided to change the meeting to 9th June.
The site visit by the Councillors on the committee - these are the 10 Councillors from across Derbyshire who get to decide are fate - is still going ahead on Monday at 10.30. Unless they decide at the last minute to change that too.
If you can make it on Monday morning please come down to the site entrance on Dark Lane to show your support.
Thanks

We got our letters wednesday from DCC saying that if we intended to be at the meeting saying we had to register to be there before 12.00 on the friday.
Numerous complaints later, DCC have extended the meeting to 9th June.
Meanwhile banners & posters have gone uo to greet the councillors that are assembling at the site at 10.40am tomorrow.
-
A planning meeting is a public meeting. The only reason they can have for asking you to register Is to make sure they have a venue big enough (like CBC did when they had the meeting about CFC building at wheeldon mill) they would be in trouble if they denied people access to a public meeting simply for not pre registering
-
You beat me to it Barry - correct though.
I'm only on t'internet thanks to my ancient Sony Ericsson K750i & a Bluetooth dongle!!
Should be fully back (fibre optic) on 13th all being well
-
I'm just catching up with the posts so hope all goes well at this meeting Scimitar, let us know how it goes
-
I see this meeting is now for next week will you be able to attend scimitar?
-
Unlikely due to work shifts, but my near neighbours no doubt will be attending and will keep me informed.
-
Ok cheers - keep looking at buses - but no scimitar ;D the drivers will wonder why i keep staring at them :))
-
Just heard the council turned them down. Hope its true!
Michael Broomhead from DT has tweeted it - must be true - result!
Here ya go - http://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/news/grassroots/joy-as-controversial-calow-gas-plans-are-scrapped-1-6662997 (http://www.derbyshiretimes.co.uk/news/grassroots/joy-as-controversial-calow-gas-plans-are-scrapped-1-6662997)

Wasn't there something in the Queen's Speech last week to allow fracking without the need for planning permission?
-
It's this quote from the DT's website that bothers me Dave after reading your post.
It remains to be seen if SSNG will appeal against the decision.
Margi added: “We’ve won the battle but now we’ll have to wait and see if we’ve won the war.”
Could they now appeal and the council can't stop them.

How does the saying go -- 'There's always a way'
-
I don't know the detail but I know there's a plan to allow fracking to go ahead under your land from adjacent land without needing your permission. I would have thought in this case an appeal is a certainty.
-
The first application (involving Fracking) was withdrawn by the applicant - see below.
Dear Ms Proudler,
It is understood that there has been a question raised, in one or more letters of
representation, that in respect of the proposed lateral drilling operations, the
requirements of Section 11 of The Town & Country Planning (Development
Management Procedure) (England) Order 2010 may not have been complied
with, in full.
In order to ensure that, despite the extensive public consultation and the
publicity this application has received, there is no owner or tenant (as defined by
the Order) who has not been made aware of what is being proposed, we and the
Applicant are agreed that the current planning application is to be withdrawn.
Therefore, on behalf of the Applicant, Seven Star Natural Gas, please
withdraw the above planning application with immediate effect.
A further planning application, will be submitted in the New Year, once
further more extensive notices have been issued.
The substance of the revised planning application will, to all intents and
purposes,be unchanged.
The second application (without Fracking), has been overwhelmingly rejected by the council as you know.
I'm not sure what right of appeal SSNG has, but the new Government Fracking proposals seem to indicate that locals affected by it should receive compensation, & SSNG, when questioned, laughed that one off blatantly.
The site is totally unsuitable for a start. Its down a single track road with only one passing place (which is beyond the site anyway). There is no off road parking virtually, as the majority of the houses are terraced. I have a garage-just don't own a car at present. The houses we live in (or most of them) were all built around 1900 or so, and its very quiet at night although I'm only probably 500 yards from Top road. So its not far to walk to local shops & catch buses etc. My front room window overlooks a field which is sometimes used for grazing. At the back of my house - allotments.
Idyllic for shift workers like my Wife & Myself.
Then a Farmer decides he can make some money from one of his fields by stepping into bed with Alkane/Seven Star Natural Gas with no thought whatsoever for the nearby householders. It was a good idea in fairness, but when the nearest house is only 150 metres away it seems daft & obtrusive. The gas would run 2 diesel engines 24/7 for up to 15 years. Not to mention the flare stack at 133ft tall (floodlit too) going off as and when, and you have to worry about the air quality too. Concerns with wildlife, & a local neighbour with horses in stables in a field nearby who would have to move them because of the noise from the flare stack randomly going off.
The drilling (albeit in Calow) would have gone as far as Hady & Brimington (two separate drills) and beyond possibly, so it was not just the good folks of Calow who took a stand.
Hats off to DCC though - they supplied a coach for people to attend the meeting in Matlock today - they didn't have to do that.
I'm hoping we've heard the last of it - I might be accused of being a NIMBY - I don't care frankly - if you buy a house in greenbelt area then you do it for a purpose. The Farmer (who stands to profit) did'nt want it in his back yard - so tried to put it in someone else's.
I hope he's frigging happy - NOT!
-
If I'm reading this correctly labour controlled DCC have turned down a planning application involving one of the Tories new pet policies. Unless the government changes next May that's only going to end one way.
