Title: Bank Holiday Rain
Post by: Pete on May 26, 2014, 01:21:57 PM
Lovely day for Bank Holiday Monday. :)

Pity they forecast rain for 4 o'clock - exactly when our barbeque should be in full swing... :(

Finished tidying the green house this morning.
Had a couple of hours at my mothers this afternoon.
Her sisters (my aunts) were over from Lancaster and Leicester. A good laugh as usual  :D

We spent the weekend in Scotland. It rained there too, on and off, but not enough to spoil things.

Bank Holiday has come and gone - I still haven't finished putting my bedding plants in the garden. Started yesterday ( a bit later than normal ) then rain stopped play and it's been too wet today.
Lets see what tomorrow brings maybe I can finish putting them in.

Put mine in a couple of weeks ago, then SWMBO wanted some trailing begonias! Bought some off market and also a small bag of compost from Lidlington, as I'd not got enough left.

Opened the bag - phew!!! IT STUNK!!!!! Smelt like animal sh1t! Upside is that the plants should grow huge!

Manure eh Alsatian - ahh how many times has my late father nipped outside with a bucket and shovel after a horse has passed by - sweetest smelling roses ever  :))

I have put some more in, I seem to have had a senior moment when buying them as I have more than I normally buy - and I was supposed to be cutting down this year ::)

Flipping heck, how it's rained!
I was returning from taking daughter shopping and it was bouncing down with hugs claps of thunder :-?

I parked up and hubby and I left daughter in the car whilst we took her shopping to her bungalow.

Most of the bungalows were stood in water up to the front walls and a blocked drain made a huge puddle we had to wade through.

I reckon because the bank of shrubs opposite the bungalows is so wet the water just ran down, flooding the front lawns and beyond. The only thing that saved it getting under daughters front door is that the entrance is slightly ramped - thank goodness for that or we would need sand bags.

Hubby managed to unblock the drain on the bridle path in front of the bungalows - but ended up wet through as initially the water spluttered up when he put the spade in  :))

Shouldn't laugh I know but -----  :))

Have also heard Derby Road near Tesco's was flooded
