The last thing we need are parking vigilantes prowling the town armed with cameras... the ones in green uniforms are bad enough!
-
I get on very well with the green uniformed vigilantes. Then again, I don't park illegally, or stupidly very often ::)
-
I get on very well with the ones who patrol near my house - we call them all 'Kevin'...
-
I know an Ian and a Richard, they used to be proper Traffic Wardens.
Now they're just parking officers. No traffic offence powers 8)
Just parking ;)

Ohhh yess I've always wanted to be a vigilante - didn't think of it like that.
Could I have a uniform as well then ::)

If only everyone did
If you park legally, with a ticket etc then the Enforcement Officers wont be able to do anything.

Wish I had got my camera on me last Saturday when a thundering great lorry had parked partly onto the pavement in the village, making it impossible for daughter to pass. She had to reverse back to the next dropped curb and go on the road

They check tax discs, I've seen it happen right outside my house. The car was clamped and then removed on a flatbed.
-
My car is taxed, so is my taxi.
I won't ask if you think people should get away with not paying for a tax disk. I know you didn't mean that ::)
What I had heard is that the parking officers will gradually get more right's to issue tickets for other offences.
-
Tax discs will be abolished from October. You'll still have to pay VED but you won't have to display a disc in your car's front screen - everything's being computerised these days...

The data would be held on a server but any company with common sense and holding that kid of information should have it backed up or linked to a secondary in case of a 'fall over'
Im a bit puzzled as to how it would work though, if the Officer found an untaxed car would he/she have to wait with it until the recovery truck, clampers or police came? I cant see that happening as they could be walking around finding more.
My opinion is that the more untaxed cars off the road the better. Ive always paid my car tax and insurance, and if you cant afford it, use other means instead
