Title: Flu Jabs
Post by: emmz on August 02, 2014, 07:19:41 PM
I know its still very early but just wanted to know whether any of you lot have a flu jab every year and whether it had made you feel better or worse over all?
As some may or may not know I was poorly early in the year, I had the official diagnosis of Asthma in june (7 months after first symptoms) and have been told I can be eligable for it.
Now I don't normally have flu just bad coughs, have been prone to chest infections but no actual flu. So my question is, is it worth it. No i know I get it free etc etc but I don't know if I will benefit in the long run

Also Asthmatic and have the flu jab every year without any side effects.
Last thing you want is the flu when you are an Asthmatic

Never had one. Isn't it a bit of a gamble what strain of flu is likely to be around in a particular winter? bit of a myth that they prevent people catching colds.

They are not for colds Slacker just for the flu strain itself,
See now i suffer a lot in winter. I can get 3-4 colds that linger. and now with this asthma as well It can make things difficult.
See i for one would not want to chance flu with this. It would make things very unpleasant and at its worst would not want to miss work, I did earlier in the year as my chest was very bad coupled with flu like symptons.
It will not stop the common cold. But I am hoping wont make things so bad :)

We both have one every year. Believe it or not, my cardiologist told me that the damage to my heart might have been caused by an infection, possibly a chest infection, so anything that helps me resist infections, viruses, coughs, colds etc. is OK with me!
