Title: Black Screen HELP!
Post by: Old Cruser on August 26, 2014, 05:55:27 PM
Switched laptop on on have a black screen?
It come up HP.
Then the front page.
Then the login.
After that it's a black screen with mouse visible and mobile.
I've tried different suggestions from the net but nothing works.
On one occasion I got up a fixing thing supposedly from Microsoft which wanted money?
Face Book was also there and I could use it.
Once I had closed down the fixer and facebook it went back to a black screen.
Any ideas ?

Have you tried booting into 'Safe Mode', think you have to hold F8 whilst booting up.
If that works, try a system restore.
Really needs to be looked at  :(

It's about 13 months old and after the reboot it does exactly the same thing.
Just going to have another go at it.

Had a tip off from a friend - see the link below.
Flipping Microsoft.

Taking laptop to grandsons on Friday and he's going to sort it

Hope you get it sorted OC, the link to the August update you posted didn't even work for me.
Not sure if that is down to Travelodge wifi, or the amount of people nation/world wide trying to access it  ::)

Microsoft cock up, bet they don't pay out for the inconvenience caused to customers. T&C's no doubt cover their own back.

Grandson has a disk Fly he tells me he downloaded different ones after he bought a new computer without a disc - it seems they don't always give them now which is why I couldn't find one for daughters ( unless it's at her place)
Fingers crossed for tomorrow
