Title: Machents scrapyard

Just  found  this  photo  and  wondered  if  anyone  can  throw  any  light  on  it. I  believe  that  it  was  taken  in  Machents  scrapyard,  on  St. Johns  Road  off  Whittington  moor,  the  school  on  Edmund  Street  is  in  the  background,  probably  taken in  the  late  forties.[img]

Are you on Facebook, perhaps you could post the picture on the 'Old Chesterfield Pics' page.
If your not, I'm sure someone on here could do it for you. Bit difficult for me being in Ibiza LOL  :)

Would it be possible to blow up the photo theres writing on the lorry? Not up with scrapyards but there was one near the old Tesco on Whittington Moor but closed a few years ago now.

Ironsky if you use the zoom (top left hand corner of page ) you can see the letters but they are obscured by legs - I couldn't make sense of them but you might.
