Former Chesterfield MP Paul Holmes has allegedly been found to have bullied Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate Julia Cambridge after she submitted a complaint about her fellow party member.
And I thought they were such a cool bunch…

Posted on the "other place" to see what Henri will reveal. Not good political timing to have such a public argument
-
If she gets bullied by her own party, how's she going to do in Parliament?
-
My thoughts
-
Bullying in any work force is unacceptable - this has yet to unfold
-
I have to agree with Slacker (and you know how annoyed that makes me!!)
I can't see what she hopes to gain from the timing of this.
I don't think Paul Holmes was so hated by his own party or the voters that she feels the need to distance herself from him or blacken his name.
I knew him when he was a candidate, a councillor and an MP
I had a close working relationship with many senior members of his party locally.
I never heard anything but good things about him.
I wonder if he was pushed out after the last election to be replaced by Ms Cambridge and there's an element of sour grapes to this?
Incidentally another piece of poor journalism by the DT.
First woman to stand for Parliament in Chesterfield?
Whilst I might forgive them forgetting Helen Anscombe in the 1984 by election (Independant 34 votes) or local campaigner Jeannie Robinson in 2001 (socialist alliance 437 votes) it's a bit much that they've forgotten that Carolyn Abbot stood in 2010 for the Tories gained 7214 votes and thus arguably handed the election win to Toby Perkins

After admit, my daughter had some dealings with Paul Holmes and couldn't fault him.
-
You may be right OC, although I have heard little moans (Chesterfield's speciality) over the years about him.
Maybe the new LibDem hopeful is a bit too nice for the job.
Still, it's politics - guaranteed to bring out the worst in folks. :))

Fink I will start a 'moaning thread' ::)
-
From what I've heard LibDem councillors are siding with JC rather than PH
Not bought Derbys Time today, wondered what page they have hidden the story on. Their facebook page tends to put stories on 3 times (except this one)
Did Nadine used to live in Chesterfield OC? Just wondered whey otherwise home was getting incolved, against protocol, with matters outside his constituency.
-
No I think it was more to do with her access campaigning in Chesterfield town center.
-
See the best they can do over there is give you a slagging off slacker - true to form
-
Just nipped over there to see what the 'slagging off' was about. One thing strikes me (and I think I can say this without risk of legal action.). CC still talks complete and utter B******s
-
Agreed! :)

No need for it JR but it happens all the time.
If members 'don't fit' they are laughed at and ridiculed for petty things at time such as spelling mistakes and grammar.
Down right ignorant and rude.
If that happened on here - I wouldn't want to be a member.
Nicheuk - yes I've seen your posts, obviously gunning for you >; doubt that will bother you though ;)

My apologies CC (seeing as how you have obviously been over here and seen my comments)
Let me clarify.
I think you talk B******* on the majority of topics over there not just the Paul Holmes one.
-
Its looks like my Cameron thread now become a mud slinging session sad.
long Story - goes back even before my time
-
Unfortunately he cant discuss an issue without changing the subject if the debate isn't going his way
-
And if he can't win an argument, he'll ban you.
-
I will argue with anyone ( though it does remind me of the quote 'I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed man). What I object to is the same thing as I object to with Slacker. It's blue good red bad regardless of the subject. If it does look like blue bad either don't answer or change the subject to another red bad. The problem elsewhere is that someone has learnt the politicians trick. Shout loud enough and with enough conviction and people will believe you are telling the truth. It's only later when you realise it's a load of cr@p

Thought you were talking in Tongue for awhile there JR ( or on the brandy ;) )
Then it clicked what you were on about. :))
Oh the joys of being old ::)

You are right nicheuk, there is no shame in backing out.
The problem unfortunately seems to be that a pattern is formed in another place and a small 'pack' of members begin to attack and ridicule a member if they don't 'fit'
I 'used' to be a member in that place, but respect others too much to be part of what sometimes goes on.
I remember one member who yes admittedly was maybe a little too passionate in trying to get over the problems arising with ISIS.
The member was taken the pee out of by a certain few.
In fact their warnings and points on ISIS have proved to be founded - !!!
-
Yes I remember that member well and was in fact right and in the private messages I had was a nice person true we didn't always agree but like I said before that's how it works. His posts sometimes were quite funny. But both forums can't beat Sheffield Forum which I'm a member of trust me some of the posters on there would take no prisoners !
Couldn't be doing with it nicheuk, I use the forums for information and pleasure, not slagging off.
Whilst face to face I can be and am very open, and speak my mind if I have t, but the way some people hide behind a false name and forum to belittle others isn't right.
Now puts soap box away ============================== :))
