The BBC has suspended Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson “following a fracas” with a producer.
The motoring show has been pulled from Sunday night’s schedule as the corporation investigates the incident.
Clarkson was put on what was called his final warning last year following a racism row after claims that he used the N-word while reciting the nursery rhyme Eeny, Meeny, Miny Moe during filming of the BBC2 programme.
Good luck sorting that out Beeb...

Is he really as bad as the press make out, or is he just being picked on for being a bit vocal in a PC world ??
Personally I like the guy ;D
-
Don't like the chap - full stop!
-
Agree with Fly, he's a non-pc living in a media pc world. I think it's "uncool" to like him.
I like the guy.
But the show makes £150m a year for for BBC - and without him it wouldn't be the same.
-
Not impressed by entertainers who deliberately court controversy to entertain. Not as bad as katie Hopkins but not particularly a fan.
-
Like politicians do !!
-
Me too!!!
Even my wife watches Top Gear and she's not interested in cars...
A very funny, entertaining hour.
-
If he's not political correct I'm his number one fan >;
Precisely, Jeremy Clarkson is who he is. Says what he means. Punches Piers Morgan.Who wouldn't.He should be the producer of the show rather than the person he's allegedly punched. It makes sh@t loads of money for the BBC.
If Top Gear goes, I'll be sad. However Richard Hammond & James May are also a waste of space.
Vicki Butler Henderson however (fifth gear) I do like. Tiff Needell as well - racing bred drivers.
They should review ordinary cars rather than fuel guzzling V8's though which nobody can afford.
I,personally think Top Gear has been poor over the past few series.
-
According to the news the program is not just about cars but about being 'rude to people'
I don't condone that.
They also say he hit a producer?
I don't condone that either.
What kind of role model is he for the younger generation who watch it?
Footballer's are penalised for it - why is it ok for J.C?
-
I can't see what all the fuss is about, yeah JC can be a bit of a "Top Hat" sometimes and he certainly is not "PC" at all (can't fault him there) but he is a pretty ordinary guy that says things as he see's them, again, can't fault him for that. There is far too much of "you can't say that" or "you can't do this" these days. I am very much of the opinion that if you don't like what you see/hear then just bugger off, oh and close the door on your way out. Ta!
It will be sad if they decide to cancel the show as its quite entertaining, my boys love it. That poor excuse for a motoring show on the other side (Fifth Wheel) or something with Stiff Needle or whatever his name is is well,................DIRE! It's all about cars for gods sake, at least with Top Gear there are some great cars, that yes, nobody can afford, but there is plenty of other entertainment as well.
I would suspect that if the Beeb decide to cut all ties it won't be long before one of the other many channels snap it up considering how much money it makes.
-
£350 Million a year the BBC make from sales of TG around the globe.
Shooting themselves in the foot at the moment aren't they?
Love him or loathe him, Top Gear won't be the same without him, and the BBC know this.
The BBC can be accused of being too "PC", and I think they have spit their dummy out on this one.
Clarkson won't give a toss I suspect anyway! Not that what he is alleged to have done is right of course, but we don't know the details - you don't just punch someone for no reason after all.
-
JC isn't PC? That really is one of those No S*** Sherlock moments. The fact is that the majority of the time he knows exactly what he's saying and the reaction it's going to cause. The rest of the time he's usually either misquoted or mis-interpreted. Take the public sector gag that has Slackers knickers in a twist. It had Berger Hall to do with public sector workers being on strike and everything to do with having a dig at the BBC. Slacker et al just jump on the bandwagon because they have Clarkson down as a Tory (which I suspect he isn't but it's easier to play the persona)
-
Its mainly for publicity as well i reckon
JC is a 54 year old and i am more than sure he knows what he is doing, he has been in trouble before with the beeb and in countries he has been to but they still keep him in a job,.
Let him take the punishment, if he gets the sack so be it.
-
I agree with Emmz, in that I think he knows what he's doing. Stuff like this is very often done with calculated timings although this incident might have spiralled a bit. Given the outcry on social media from his fans, he'll come out of it smelling like roses!
-
Still think more details need releasing before he's slagged off on this occasion IMHO :-X
Think the supposed 400000+ petition signers are a bit premature as well :-X
-
I can take his mouthing off, it's part of his persona but it's mostly harmless school boy fun. However, if he, as is alleged, punched a producer because there was no hot food available at his hotel after 11pm at night after the chef had gone home, that's a different matter. Apparently JC is very fussy about being fed on time (diabetic perhaps?) but that doesn't excuse violence. Every company and public organisation will have a grievance procedure, the BBC is simply following its so JC's suspension is not unexpected.
What's interesting is the timing; the three Top Gear presenters' contracts are due for renewal by the end of this month. Maybe JC doesn't want his renewed and wants to take the Top Gear format away from them but can't because he sold his share in its production company back to them a couple of years ago. Maybe he simply wants to boost his chances of negotiating a bigger salary.
The most recent media reports suggest that he is contrite and has apologised. Perhaps, with the BBC unable to transmit or supply the remaining programmes in this series to other broadcasters, a penalty clause has been invoked in his current contract and JC has realised he could be liable for costs...
Lots if 'maybe' and perhaps' but who knows...

I found his local government comments offensive. Obviously he didn't literally mean the shooting bit but there were people who were on low wages and didn't take the decision lightly deeply hurt by the remarks.
Don't like the format of the show, 50 something behaving like a spoiled teenager. Bring back Chris Goffey.
Maybe the UKIP butcher from Whittington will send him the steak he got so upset about missing :)
-
do you actually know what he said or as usual for a politician are you just relying on sound bites and biased reporting?
-
I googled the word politician, my thinking that Slacker is a councillor, not a politician.
The findings look a bit unfair to me :-X

-
I look forward to finding out more details before I make up my mind.
-

I heard him say what he said about local government strike.
The suspension was for hitting someone and the other party involved wasn't suspended
-
go on then what did he say?
-
There are clips on YouTube (not liked one because the sound seems to be paying up on my laptop). Obviously said in a jokey way but there are people in other countries that get murdered for industrial action so I find it offensive as you would if someone made jokes about the Hillsborough disaster.
-

Of course councillors are politicians, they are elected members of local government ::)
JC's comments about striking local government workers were made on The One Show on November 30th 2011. They're easy to find on line.

There are heavily edited clips on YouTube but I as yet have not come across a full one. If you saw the full one at the time as I did then it was perfectly clear he was joking and actually having a dig at the BBC for their need to be balanced and politically correct in all things. But that wouldn't qualify for left wing righteous indignation would it
-
Frankly I'm not bothered whether they suspend him or not. Worryingly people would rather fight for his future than NHS or education
-
>> Worryingly people would rather fight for his future than NHS or education
That's because folks are sick to death of politicians and desperately need entertainment - easy. :)
-
Seems J C likens himself to a Dinosaur - he'll be extinct just like they are if he can't curb his ways a tad ;)
-
Here ya go Jezza :)
-
I've just read a post where someone compares Clarkson with Jimmy Savile...
There are some humourless, politically correct gits who will stoop to any level to back up their miserable lives. Comparing the orangutan to a man who, for 40 years, systematically abused and raped his way through children and mentally ill people is disgraceful - in fact more disgraceful than anything Clarkson has ever said. Shocking.
-
So, he's got his marching orders.
Top Gear will never be the same. I hope he does something similar for another tv company.
-
There's a conspiracy theory flying round that Jezza has done this deliberately. He sold his shares in Top Gear back to the BBC sometime ago for a fortune. He's now out of his contract meaning he's free to go and start up 'Top Revs' on Sky 1. Hamster and Captain Slow's contract are nearly up for renewal. What's the betting they don't sign?
-
I understand all parties involved have agreed the facts one of which is that he hit the producer.I am sure that if I had done that to a fellow employee at work it would have been instant dismissal.
Why should he be any different?
-
So, he's got his marching orders.
Top Gear will never be the same. I hope he does something similar for another tv company.
Totally agree, no doubt C5 will try and get him on board.
-
Why would he have needed to do it deliberately? His contract was coming to an end, he could have simply not signed a new one. If the situation had been reversed and producer hit JC, the producer would have been dismissed without all this agonising. JC brought it on himself and now, it seems, the police are interested - serves him right.
-
I think it may have something to do with non-competing clauses.
-
I think the only comparison with Savile is that Savile was such as big star that he was seemingly untouchable.
Assaulting a fellow employee both physically and racially is not acceptable so the BBC acted correctly. Finances should not be a consideration in workplace disciplinaries
-
Assaulting racially? Must have missed that bit. Link?
-
No one should be so great that they are allowed to get away with unacceptable behaviour no matter how popular they are.
Justice has been served and rightly so.
-
Assaulting racially? Must have missed that bit. Link?
As part of an aggressive ran he didn't just call him a 6*%7, he called him an Irish 6*%7. To refer to anyone's nationality when having a go at them is racist

Oh dear, some of the left are such a bunch of humourless moaners...
I read this today criticising the orangutang:
"Short people. When you've finished using a car, put the f**king seat back, so humans can use it afterwards," he posted on Twitter.
I think that's hilarious, speaking as a man with a 5 foot wife, when I want to use the car I nearly break my spine trying to get in to move the seat back.
He done wrong, he lost his job, end of. Except for the politically correct whiners who'll have few more months bleating about him.
-
One of our cars has memory seats - pity it's not the one my O/H is using now that she's driving again so for once, I'm in agreement!
-
I struggle to get my knees under the steering wheel when a 'shorter than me' person has been in the car ;D
-
>> so for once, I'm in agreement
Pete crawls off to lie down in a darkened room... LOL :))
