17 March 2015
The footbridge that links Queens Park and the town centre will be closed for the next 10 weeks.
The bridge is closed so that we can replace the parapets. We're replacing them with taller parapets and we're resurfacing the bridge and adding an anti-slip surface.
Markham Road (A619) will be closed from 8pm Friday 20 March until 5am Saturday 21 March, so that we can get to the underneath of the bridge.
The road will be closed from West Bars Roundabout and its junction with Park Road.
Alternative routes are:
Westbound - A619 Markham Road, Park Road, Boythorpe Avenue, Boythorpe Road and A619 West Bars Roundabout.
Eastbound - A619 West Bars, New Beetwell Street, Beetwell Street, Hipper Street and A619 Markham Road.

Good - that bridge is in terrible shape, about time something was done about it.

At least it shouldn't bother daytime traffic :)

Good point Fly - I never noticed the times, only the dates.
Well, ay least we won't have every Tom, Dick and Harry moaning about the council on this one. ;)

I hope the 10 weeks has allowed for over running and the Easter holidays or the Race for Life on the 15th June could be fun!!!
