Has anyone else noticed the amount of Starlings that are around?
We have dozens of the greedy gits, never had so many.
Also I noticed at least 8 magpies on next doors roof a couple of days ago, very unusual for around here.
-
Noticed a few more on our garden this year.
What we don't see so often are sparrows ?
-
Sparrows - strange that but I've changed the ground feeder food and we now have lots of them whereas before like you we hardly saw any.
I wonder if the wild birds are now on the increase after a decline.

When we lived at Sutton Scarsdale for a short time, I thought sparrows had become extinct as we never saw any. When we came to Wingerworth it became apparent they are still in abundance.

Fuppet I live on the same street as my daughter.
I live at the top end of the street and daughter at the bottom.
On her back gardens there is an abundance of Finches - I just love them but we hardly get any at all.
-
That would be great to find out why. Do you get any birds that your daughter doesn't?
-
No we don't fuppet.
I think the main reason for the Finches on her back is because it is open land with some trees and so a haven for birds.
I did start to attract Finches and bought a special feeder for Nyjer seed which they love.
Had quite a few feeding then a few houses down some large trees were cut down - and the Finches vanished :(
