Title: Clay Cross tunnel.
Post by: Fly on June 23, 2015, 08:15:38 PM
Train approaching my vantage point.

I'm stood roughly 440m, 480yds from the tunnel entrance.

The tunnel is 1631m, 1784yds long.

So the other end is well over a mile away.

This last picture isn't a 'zoom, cut and paste', from another picture. It's straight from my camera and nearly as good as any I've seen on Google Images from the same location  ;)

I was shown this tunnel after we'd done a walk tracing the route of the Ashover Light Railway last summer.

Didn't they join somewhere near the tunnel Pete. I know the line crossed the A61 just down the road from the Royal Oak?

Yes OC, Clay Lane, at the side of church, tother side of road, Market St, Tesco's, and another behind Tesco.
I think I'm right  :)

Nice one Kent. I saw a webpage that said nine, all the others said six, so I played it safe  (y)
