I decided to look for an old friend I lost touch with years ago.
found they died and where they died also the place they are buried.
But --- when I checked out the obits for the person in a newspaper there is no write up available.
Instead it gives the Ancestory site to go to?
Why?
Never come across this before???
Any suggestions please.

If you mean the ancestry.co.uk site, I have access if you need help ?
-
Thanks Fly - yes I do - but how could it be taken out of the newspaper and made exclusive to them?

Perhaps the relatives of the deceased person wanted to keep some details out of the general public's eye.
PM me a few details and I'll get back to you :-)

Thanks Fly

It won't know be exclusive to Ancestry - Ancestry will be paying the search engine to point to them. You've found the location of your friend's death, so you could go and look through the local paper at a library. That's hit and miss, though, an can require a lot of work for the possibility of no reward. If Ancestry has copied the obit, then it exists separately, but theirs is an easy, indexed way of accessing it.
