Just a Yellow warning for snow folks - but take care out there as the temp. is dropping
-
Sadly regardless of how much we have work are well prepared with 4x4's at the ready...so even if a mass blanket falls there will be no snow day for me lol.
Teachers at school are a different matter most at Lauras school are not local so should the weather be bad where they are it can interrupt things slightly...
Looking at weather at the moment its raining so fingers crossed it will pass :)

It getting really cold here in Arbrouthorne not long before the white stuff is here.
-
Now I've retired I don't have quite the same dislike of snow that used to stress me out when I was working.
If it comes, let's hope its not much and won't disrupt life for long.
Take care out there everyone :)

Whooppeeee . . . . . . . I can't wait ::)

As expected no real issues this morning....was only ever going to be high ground that got any. Whilst the warning was in place the forecast for Chesterfield only ever showed rain anyway.
Wouldnt cause major issues for us personally...i could walk to work if required and the other half can work from home whilst the dog will just play in it! I appreciate that it can cause more issues for others but as usual it gives a lot of folk another chance to have a whinge and a whine at the likes of the council for not being prepared when in reality they would whinge and whine at the council if they went out and spent a fortune on kit for dealing with the one possible day of snow we get a year! ;)

That's what I can't understand bransoj, I get info from the BBC using my postcode - it gives out a yellow warning for snow - but shows rain with some sleet! I guess they just er on the safe side - but - the yellow warning for snow is still on for today so ????
It doesn't really bother me these days either as I'm also retired but today I am taking daughter to Calow Hospital and really could do with out the white stuff
-
Its probably because the postcode falls in the area the warning covers geography wise but in reality if you read the details of the actual warning its never going to bother us. Its all further north than us really and above 200m :-
YELLOW WARNING of SNOW for southern and central Scotland and northern England.
Issued at 0310 on Thu 14 Jan 2016
Valid from 0315 on Thu 14 Jan 2016 to 1500 on Thu 14
Further outbreaks of rain, sleet and snow are expected during Thursday morning, clearing from the north and west through the day. The heaviest snow is still expected to affect parts of southeast Scotland (for which a separate Amber warning is in force) and upland areas of northern England, including cross-Pennine routes, where 3 to 6 cm may fall in a number of areas, with possibly as much as 10 cm locally, mainly above elevations of 200 metres. Ice will be an additional hazard as the sleet and snow clears from southeast Scotland.
Please be aware of the risk of disruption to travel, and take appropriate precautions before undertaking journeys. It will also be worth keeping fully up to date with the latest forecasts - details of amounts and areas affected may well change.
This is an update to extend the warning area to include the North York Moors, whilst at the same time trimming the northwestern limit over Scotland - now covered by a separate ice warning - and to cease the warning by mid afternoon.
I'd be very confident you will get to Calow and back and not see a hint of any white stuff falling and definitely not enough to cause any potential issues bar some road users deciding to drive at 10mph cos there is some white stuff falling yet the roads are dryer than if it'd been raining!!
-
Ahh OK bransoj.
The BBC have been generally spot on in the past for us, but none of the forecasters get it right all the time do they.
Calow Hill ( if i went that way ) wouldn't be on my favourites list for the way to go.
I'll bet it's a ruman !
Mind you can't be any worse than Slack Hill can it !!
-
I think in general if there is any snow then Calow\Hady Hill isnt much fun although in theory being the main route to the hospital should get more immediate attention than some other places. I suspect the only issue on there today though will be the roadworks that were halfway up the other day when i was on there!!
-
We were just starting off when it was said on The peak radio that it was snowing in Calow!
Charming!
We arrived at the hospital and didn't see one little flake ( big sigh of relief ) but the wind chill is something else.
They got the arctic blast right anyway ;)
-
:-X ::)
-
Just seen a couple of flakes falling in Eckinton not sure if we are going to get any through the night , gritters are out but not putting salt down at the moment.
-
They must have run out of grit then handy as our village has been gritted
-
Some snow on our back garden if you want it Handy ;)
-
I have had a picture to win all pictures of snow - it has one snow flake - sent to me by a friend :))

Thanks Fly we got about the same amount all clear at the moment around here
