Probably in the wrong place but does anyone know anything about this huge stone gate post in Chesterfield?

Other than it's a huge stone gate post in Chesterfield - erm no ;)
Where is it? Might be an old farmers gate post...Dunno :-\

Bet you drive past it on a regular basis scimitar.
Have to admit it's the first time I've noticed it - it's near the CSC? sofa place.

I think someone posted a wider view of this on Facebook OC.  It's outside JYSK on the Lordsmill Street end of Markham Road.

Back in the day, JYSK was more or less the site of Hipper Street School where I went.  I don't recall the gatepost being there then.  I think it's been salvaged from somewhere else and placed there for interest.

Old pic of Hipper school yard is attached here.  This is the part of the yard that was on Markham Road and approximately where the gatepost is sited now.

You mean Scs :P I worked for CSC that's a different company lol

Oh whatever emmz I knew it was something like that. ;)

Gerty I put the photo on our face book site after we spotted it whilst parked up in that area.
Why would they want to put a stone there just our of interest though. It would have no relevance to the area.

The gate post was part of the old Irving's Corn Mill that stood there.
