No reason to disbelieve you, but if this is true, it's very sad. They have moved to Tesco!
After all Montague Burton opened his first store in Chesterfield in 1904 and it grew from there to up to 400 stores. Maybe the Tesco site saves them an exorbitant town centre rent & will be more profitable for them.
Good Luck to them.

You wore suits  :-? my we have a posh one here folks  ;)

We were in Burtons in Chesterfield a couple of weeks ago having a browse, didn't notice the sign - but nothing in which hubby fancied and 2/3 years ago hubby needed a new suit ( yep he wears them as well   ;)) and they hadn't got one for him to try in his size! He's not a massively built bloke so there shouldn't have been a problem - they had nothing in his size - full stop. Maybe they were struggling a bit back then?

. Yep IV always been a Sharp dresser me. Though the last suit I tired to get at Burton's I was struggling with the trouser leg width seem to be slim fit only shop. I think Primark has done their trade in .

We did the rounds in Chesterfield and it was looking like a visit to Sheffield  :-?

We had a walk to Debenhams and hubby found one there he liked, only thing was we couldn't understand why didn't have any pockets ?

I think I posted on here about it and was told they would have been stitched, so I looked closer and sure enough I was able to unpick the stitching to reveal POCKETS! Dohhhh
