Title: Chesterfield Hotel -
Post by: Old Cruser on April 01, 2016, 11:37:48 AM
I saw a write up in the Derbyshire times yesterday about the company who operated the hotel.

The DT states that the Company GS Trading V1 has now submitted documents requested by Companies House which is a Government Trading agency had they not provided these requested company 'returns' it may well have been dissolved and the Chesterfield Hotel would have become property of The Crown.

So the firm who ran the Hotel remain an 'active firm'

Have we some hope that the Chesterfield Hotel will at some point be used again and not demolished as some of us feared?

If I was to be totally brutal honest I doubt the Chesterfield Hotel will reopen the problem is their are better hotels in town notable Casa on Whittington Moor. The Casa is purpose built with 21 century standards that would be impossible recreate in the shell of the Chesterfield. People want large rooms with up to date facilities and Broadband access the Casa and other hotel brands offer this it boils down to what people want and prepared to pay. Another problem with the Chesterfield its becoming derelict no investor  will want to spend millions when its much cheaper to build new.

Yes handy it's not good - but - it's maybe not quite as bleak as it looked a few months ago.
We will have to wait and see!

WCT I know what you mean it needs money spending on it I suppose.
It can't be compared to the Casa which I agree is a lovely hotel and one we have used but it's a new building.

Old buildings can be enhanced and if done right the character of it's originality brought back.

I read more than once that there was a possibility of a company using it for vulnerable people but it didn't explain if it was living accommodation or holiday letting.

Maybe the hold up by GS Trading has held this venture up?
