Hi
I'm just posting here to ask if anyone knows what's being done on the site on Derby Road next to the Pet Food store in Clay Cross. Iv'e noticed lot's of building work going on and it looks like a very large area there building on.There's been roadworks there and I noticed on Derbyshire Country Councils website there set to continue until July (It also says the roadworks are to build a new roundabout). I thought it might be the new Aldi that was announced last year but I thought that was supposed to be going the other side of the roundabout?

Hi Adam and welcome to the forum.
I was under the impression that the land is being prepared for the Aldi.
The development site is quiote a large one from what I have heard and is to stretch right down to the old Clay Cross works.
I 'believe' it is to be used for businesses and houses.
It's been said that before the work lower down can begin there needs to be a 'land clean up' but I'm not sure what this entails.
I can find very little on the internet about this development and the latest updates have said something like 'not yet available for public viewing' regarding plans for it.
If I hear anything more though I will post - having said this there may well be another member who comes along and can tell us more. :)

The New Aldi is going across from Tesco's Petrol Staion at Clay Cross.
They are going to Flatten the Old Hauser Engineering Place and Build on there.
