Title: Tesco workers - Paging therealjr
Post by: Pete on February 16, 2012, 05:31:15 PM
Just been reading about Tesco employing people at unemployed benefit plus expenses - do Sainsburys or any other of the supermarkets do that?

Are Tesco going to give takers of this, qualifications, that could help them apply for real jobs.
I'd do it if I was in that situation.

But it isn't. If you don't take the offer of work, for nowt, the Gov can stop your benefits.
If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.
I've read so many news stories, it's all getting a bit confusing !!

Fine by me but presumably there also has to be one of Boots et al or is the theory that the others would follow T****** lead?

My friend's son wasn't paid during his training but at least he got set on. A knock on effect of a government policy of creating high unemployment to make people do anything to get work.

Suppose in theory there's nothing differnt to the old YOP and YTS schemes that were run in the 1980's.
I did 4.5 months on a YOP schem, led to a 28 year career!!

Last time the Tories were in power they refused to bring in minimum wage legislation. Rather than remove it now they have given their friends who own bog companies and want to trouser as much profit as possible a loophole to exploit their workers.
