Ashgate Hospice were absolutely brilliant with my Dad in his last months, and with ourselves as family.
A charity worthy of both respect and support. (y)

The staff at Ashgate Hospice are absolutely brilliant. When my Dad was in his last few days he said he fancied a whisky. Sure enough, a full bottle appeared at his bedside. I think he had one tiny drink from it - that's all, but they provided it nevertheless.
Funnily enough, shortly after he died, a lad knocked on our door promoting the Ashgate Hospice lottery. I signed up straight away because it helps their funding. They don't just deal with cancer patients either - anyone on an "end of life" prognosis can be referred to them too.
I pay roughly £1 a week - never won anything - frankly that doesn't bother me. I'm one of many who help to fund it in thanks for the care they gave my Dad - a small price to pay. :(

It was the same when my brother was in scimitar - they used to come round with a 'drinks' trolley' of the stronger kind in the afternoon. Brother enjoyed a tipple and the very fact visitors can go anytime day or night is much appreciated as well.
Lovely staff and well cared for patients.
What more could we want.
You are right about the Palliative care as well scimitar I know people who have gone in for a few days to help with such as pain relief.
Wonder place and we need to keep it
