This area has always seemed to attract a bad name.
Years ago when I took my driving lessons I was told by instructor keep moving around here, I don't want to lose my tyres - Tongue in cheek maybe but it's the name the area has got.
More recently there has been a murder which is covered in the link below.
I wouldn't like to live there, can anyone give it a good name?

I don't know Grangewood but every town and city will have these areas that are deemed ' rough' by outsider's . I lived on a ' tough' estate at Sheffield but their were just people who lived their trying to go about their normal lives it was a certain few who dragged the estate down with their drugs and gang feuds thast ruined it for others. A big problem is some would like to move but are unable for economic reasons I was lucky I was in a position to be able to it.

From a taxi driver point of view. I've never refused a fare to or from Grangewood.
I don't think it's any worse than other areas of Chesterfield (y)

A colleague of my wife lives in the same block of flats & she's happy enough.
I've done bus runs for over 10 years there, and I think it has improved dramatically (in terms of customers attitude & cleanliness) in that time. There were some scruffy smelly buggers in the past though.
They used to say if you were on the 39's you were on the drug run, and it may have been right some years ago.
It doesn't seem so bad now in my opinion. (y)

' Drug run ' are you sure the bus drivers didn't drive via Arbourthorne to Chesterfield?

39's are town centre - stretching it a bit to keep on time to Arbourthorne >;
Seriously - "Strangewood" isn't as bad as it used to be ;)

I reckon there are now many places where drugs is becoming a problem.
Also I think areas where known drug users and people who repeatedly fall foul of the law are housed are going to be a problem area to live - don't know if this has been the case with Grangewood though.
Few years back it was well known certain areas were used for housing these people.

Took a young lady to Grangewood this morning. It became clear on the way that she might just have to 'nip in for the money'.
As she got out the taxi she passed me her purse and gold card telling me she'd only be a couple of minutes.
A minute later, purely out of curiosity, I looked at the gold card. It wasn't even her photo on it LOL :))
She returned shortly with the money and thanked me (y)
See, not such a bad place ;)
