Title: school milk
Post by: geebee on September 08, 2016, 09:26:52 AM
Can anyone remember the school milk being delivered by a firm called Websters, they had a Green Austin Lorry.  does anyone know where they operated from? I seem to remember that it was a Farm or a Big yard in the Calow/Duckmanton area but would like confirmation for an article which I'm writing. Thanks in advance. geebee

I think Websters used to operate from Bolsover or perhaps Shirebrook way.

Websters were indeed based at Bolsover, on Horsehead Lane. They had a couple? of the small electric type milk floats too.
I have many memories seeing the firms landrover towing the milk floats back to 'base' with flat batteries LOL  (y)

They may have had other sites in the Calow/Ducky area. Bolsover was their main depot.

It would appear that the company ceased trading about 2000

The buildings were demolished and a new private residence built about 2005.

Ours came from Express Dairies on Lockoford Lane a long long time ago.

I think ours at Hasland Infants came on the Co-op wagon from Wheatbridge Road dairy equally a long long time ago.

Likewise Umpire and redadmiral.
Did you get a biscuit as well?

Did anyone else have to take a spoon, dish and plate to school parties ?
