Title: Fly tipping
Post by: redadmiral on October 13, 2016, 06:29:16 PM
Can anyone out there please explain why someone drives up a quiet lane off Storforth Lane to dump a scrap fridge and freezer when the Amenity site in Chesterfield will receive them?

Maybe a business - are they charged?

I see many folks just leave them outside their house expecting a scrap dealer to collect them & generally I think they will for free.
Apparently scrap metal prices went down but have recovered somewhat - not that I'm an expert!
Local authority search would reveal options- methinks the cfc's and insulation mean that a fee is generally charged by them :-\

Scrap man won't take fridges or freezers as the main metal recycling dealers/yards charge them for dumping them. Gasses in them.

That's why I wondered if it was a business and I think I have read somewhere that the recycling places are being reviewed - as in paying???

The items are only small, the size one might have in a small flat. No excuse for dumping them I reckon.
