So people aged 70-79 are supposed to be getting invitations this week, but only if all the over-80s in their area have been done.
Yesterday we heard from an 89-year-old that none of the over-80s in Harehill Court have had an appointment yet. Today I got a text message saying "As you are aged 70-79 you are invited to make an appointment . . " which I have done. I'm going to the Winding Wheel on Sunday. I'm 74.
Something wrong there.

Probably testing it on you young ones first :P :))

My sister lives in a 'satellite' care home with 4 other residents.
The 'main' care home residents have all had their first jab, but hers hasn't?
Apparently their satellite home is too small to be included in the first tranche, and will be included in the second.
It doesn't make any sense to me.
On a different note, my daughter works for a company that provides specialist in-home nursing care, and she's been trying to sort out the staff getting their jabs. Apparently it's a minefield with a lot of conflicting information.

From what I saw on the news yesterday it's bureaucracy and form filling that's holding the job up, something the Government said they would abolish as they were getting too many complaints it was holding things up.
-
I'm in the over 70's group but haven't heard anything yet. No rush. I'm not going far!

according to matt hancock the rate of vaccination at the moment is 200 per minute, unless that rate increases it will take over a year to vaccinate the entire population, at 66 years of age i hope i will get one soon, though i expect my disabled partner who is classed as vulnerable (though this did not stop her being attacked by council employed pavements thugs) will probably get her jab before me, i understand that there are a lot of people who are anti vaccine who will not take up the offer to be vaccinated, and to those who feel this way i for one salute their selfless action of risking a slow and terrible death to allow others to get themselves protected.

WE both had our first vaccine yesterday at the Winding Wheel and had the Pfizer one. With this one you have wait for fifteen minutes to see if you have any adverse reaction.
From going through the doors to coming out was 25 minutes. It is all well
organised. My two sister in laws have been today and they were given the Oxford one.

Ours is due for next Monday at Calow hospital

I saw a bit of "fake" news on the box this morning. It was on the programme straight after the news {9:15} and I must admit at first glance, just looking at the video's I was slightly taken in till the true facts were put before me.
This was the conspiracy theorists touting their "There's no pandemic" mantra, basically they were going into hospitals just filming empty or near empty corridors, finding any space that was not bursting with activity and proclaiming "Well if there is a pandemic where are all the patients and staff?", and as I say just for a moment there I began to wonder myself, which just shows how putting a slight slant on things without the FULL facts can cause confusion and give out the totally wrong information.
I just don't understand these people, they are surrounded by this everyday, and STILL they are in denial just what do they hope to gain from it?
I fall short of coming right out and calling these conspiracy theorists nut jobs, no doubt they believe in what they are saying, we have had them in all walks of life, over the years, such as the moon landings, flat earth society, U.F.O's, and they have usually been passed off as "harmless cranks" but as regards the pandemic, what they are preaching is down right dangerous.
If you disagree and you are one of those I have mentioned then lets be hearing from you concerning your findings, if your so cock sure it's a conspiracy then lets see some REAL proof, go to the media with your CONSPIRACY FINDINGS and lets see if you can convince me and moreover convince all those people who have lost loved ones, I'm willing to listen, so if you've GOT proof {rather than just supposition}
I will be more than happy to hear what you have to say....LETS SEE SOME PROOF!!

Hear hear!

I echo that.........
When {??} this is all over all those on the front line should be given a hefty bonus and also be given a month's {extra} leave with full pay.
If anyone deserves to put their feet up for a few weeks it's the front liners.

I hope that this pandemic will have taught the NHS detractors and privatisers such as the Tory party and that self proclaimed man of the people Nigel Farage to start to realise the true value of the NHS to the majority of the people in this country, we by no stretch of the imiganation have the best health service in the world as claimed by some politicians however this is totally due to the constant underfunding and sometimes the undermining of the NHS by the same aforementioned politicians, i firmly beleive we do have one of the best value health services in the world and because it is an integrated system our NHS has been a leader in coming up with tried and tested treatments for covid 19, the American health system costs over £12 per head of population while ours costs a little over £3 per head and it covers everyone, imagine how much better our system would be if we doubled our spending on the NHS which would be half the cost of the American system now that would be something worth voting for.

phone call at half four today, appointment for jab 08.15 tomorrow....what a service!

Our vaccine's at Calow hospital were brought forward, we should have had them Monday but instead had them yesterday.
It was busy in there but good work to everyone :)
-
Brother in law and his wife (mid 70s) had theirs yesterday (Pfizer) and said how well organised it was.
Contacted them this morning and no side effects 👍According to the vaccine calculator I should (EU permitting!) get mine mid-Feb.

The NHS have been bragging on the news this morning that every care home resident and 10,000 supported independent living establishments have been offered a covid vaccine - I beg to differ!
My sister lives with 4 other elderly residents, who all suffer from physical and/or mental disabilities and have carers - sounds like a care home? wrong - it's a supported independent living home! This is Social Services playing with the name for what I believe are financial reasons, as no one of them have the faculties to do normal mundane tasks.
Now, enough of my ranting and down to vaccine matters. The main care home residents have all had their jabs, but the nurse giving them said that my sisters 'care' home (which belongs to the same company and is directly across the road) didn't qualify for this round!
What a load of tosh!
I don't normally knock the NHS, as they all do a brilliant job, and I think this is more a political statement, but I think my sisters (and the other residents) position is disgraceful.

Just took my sister up to Clay Cross for her first jab. Whilst waiting I overheard a couple talking to a guy asking where to go and what jab was it, the couple said Pfizer.
The couple had just walked out of the vaccine building and I heard the bloke say his wife has had the jab but he hasn't, I believe he said he had something medical meaning he couldn't have the Pfizer injection and so he said he had to go back tomorrow for the AstraZeneca jab.
So based on that it doesn't sound as straight forward as you might think.

Since our jab last Friday Pfizer one we have been fine apart from a sore arm.
Daughters PA's went to the Winding Wheel on Saturday and joined a very long queue outside.
They both had Oxford jab as did her other PA on the Thursday. All have been really rough the following days. One so poorly hubby wanted to call for an ambulance.
I'm just wondering if it is just really an individual reaction or does the Oxford tend to give people reactions more than the Pfizer.?
-
Obviously it has an effect on some people, lets hope for ALL our sake's that in the vaccine "rollout" quality is not giving way to quantity!!
-
Sat doing a crossword this morning and had a text message from NHS inviting me for a jab. Went online and booked an appointment at Dronfield Medical Centre for 3pm this afternoon! Had the Pfizer jab.
Only downside - I had to clear the car and drive of snow!
-
in the last two days i have had numerous text messages from the nhs telling me not to turn up to early for my covid jab, however they have not sent me any info as to when and where the jab appointment is or how to make an appointment.

I went for mine last Friday, taking the wife for hers this morning about half ten. Our jabs are at Sharley Park Clay Cross in the gym. When I asked if I had to sit for 15 minutes the nurse said no I can leave straight away if I wish, I had Astra Zenica, presumably the wife will have the same. When I was there having mine a lady in the queue asked me where I lived, she said she had come from South Normanton. The other week when taking my sister I parked in the car park I noticed two taxis arrive on a wait and return, one was Belper cabs and the other was an Ashfield cab so it looks like quite a few round those areas are being sent to Clay Cross and not Derby or Sutton in Ashfield, having said that the village I'm in most people being sent for a jab seem to be divided up between Sharley Park and the Winding wheel!

So 1% wage increase.........stinks doesn't it, I could understand it if the government had said "We can't afford anymore AT THE MOMENT! but don't worry if and when we can see the back of this pandemic and we start getting more financially sound, you will get the increase you so obviously deserve plus".......{don't hold your breath I'm not}
