Title: Concorde. Airline's Appeal :P

Until it hit a bit of steel on a runway that had fell off another plane.
Take it from me, it's dificult to swerve at 120mph. The pilot didn't have a chance.

Hope its mothballed, RAF conversion to bomb Falkands runways if Argentina tries it again.Get there in double quick time.Rather like the Avro Vulcan which did actually do the job. Shared the same engine as Concord although later modified.Apparently.
Great plane, furthermore great engineering, and a shame it had to come to an end like it did.

Post by: k4blades on March 13, 2012, 08:52:11 AM: Technically brilliant, but financially didn't work. I think it was scrapped due to the cost of running it rather than the Paris disaster. Maybe if someone discovers / invents cheap aviation fuel they would bring it back....until politicians taxed that fuel so much we get back to where we are now.

I happened to be in London when it first went into service and saw it take off from Heathrow - it was very impressive (and loud!)

I once had the 'pleasure' of watching Concorde land, and take off at Finningley Air Display. 80's.
Was also very surprised by it's size. No where near as large as I had imagined.

The noise was deffening :)
Every car alarm in the carpark with a motion detector went off LOL
