My grandson was on about the Game shop closing - apparently he went there quite a bit. Anyone have any suggestions about an alternative?

TBH emmz, I don't really know. I've never been big on games myself, when you work on the web all day every day and you are keen on forums, you don't fancy playing games on the 'puter as well.
Plus he is far too good for me to play against... :(

I can't help either. Games ain't my thing :o

Top side of the market hall opposite Jessops. Want to say they are called Castle Games but I could be wrong

Game closing, Hudson's closing - is the common link downloading?

I think so.

If technological progress can bring down huge companies like Kodak what chance does the small independant retailer have?
-
None - unless he can add something to the deal that doesn't cost more
Tricky

I'd say check out Granger games (Shop next to peacocks in town) CEX (slightly up the street from that), and Gamestation, all of which are located in chesterfield. Between them they've always got a good selection of games.
He's probably better off going to them now anyway, Game was always a bit pricey :)
