I agree that it's a valuable wake-up call.  But are we waking up?
Er . . .

I actually think Trump has done us and Europe in general a favour.

We and other leaders in N.A.T.O. have come to realise that depending on the U.S.A. {at least while Trump is in the white house} in our hour of need is less and less likely. This means that we need to be stronger with our European allies and increase funding for our armies across the board.

Trump needs to learn he can't just do what he wants when he wants, there's even talk of him trying to cancel the mid term elections in November because even he has come to realise his popularity is just in his tiny mind and he will no doubt lose the mid terms.

General Discussion / Yet another bin!!
« Last post by Sorastro on February 14, 2026, 01:48:36 PM »
WE got home from shopping this morning to find a new "bin" on the doorstep. Obviously it's a recycling bin for your food waste, food, teabags and veg etc.

Apparently you have to dig out the grey kitchen food caddy that they issued you with about 10 years ago! you put all the waste in there then when full tie the contents up in a compostable bin liner {that you buy} put it in the new bin and leave it out on the kerb to be picked up, apparently this will be a weekly collection service.
I'm assuming the bin will just be collected and another put in its place, if true this means I will more than likely end up with one that's a health hazard because no one's cleaned it.

I had to smile when I read the pamphlet that came with it, among the items you should NOT put in it was "dead animals", having said that looking round at the knuckle draggers that live in and around I wouldn't be surprised at anything.

Wonder how long this gem of an Idea will last, probably till they realise how much it's costing. Your green garden waste bin that gets emptied every two weeks and goes to landfill I suppose none of that creates methane then!

I think it's time HS2 entered the language.
As in "He's making an HS2 of it."

I've noticed Hagg hill between Tupton and Grassmoor is back to it's usual self.

Even though they re-surfaced part of it the rest is still shocking.

Just a quick catch up on Boris's promise to build "40 new hospitals by 2030"

This pledge was made in 2019 and by 2021 the total of NEW hospitals was zero. Even today the cost of this pie in the sky brainwave has doubled and if the promise made are to be fulfilled the earliest we would see significant change will be 2039!!!

Same with Labours plan to build 1'5 million new homes...good luck with that.

HS2 anyone.......

So Starmers on the ropes, it's not looking good over this Mandelson affair.

They've been looking for an excuse to bin him for quite a while and this is the smoking gun. A lot of his M.P.'s were miffed over the Andy Burnham debacle as they knew all well and good Burnham would have gone for the P.M's job.

Whether Burnham would get another chance and if he did would he be any better than the present P.M. remains to be seen.

So it would appear Trump is not happy just visiting the Kennedy centre in New York he wants to re name it {if he hasn't already} he wants to stick his name on anything and everything he can namely re branding the Kennedy centre as the Trump Kennedy centre, he wasn't even satisfied with Kennedy Trump.

He loves the adoration, he thrives on media attention..... that is until someone mentions Jeffrey Epstein.

He's still smarting from not getting the peace prize I mean after all he said he did prevent EIGHT wars, funnily enough I can't think of one at the moment, I doubt anyone can!!

And still it goes on, Emma Raducanu has been knocked out of yet another tennis tournament.

Having broken into a sweat by actually playing {and winning} a couple of matches, she got knocked out.
this defeat included the customary "mard ar*e" medical break mid match,

Anyway she doesn't need to play tennis as her sponsorship deals keep her in tennis balls, apparently Dior pays her $2million a year, then there's Nike.....Tiffany & co.....Vodaphone the list goes on.
