Chesterfield Discussion / Re: Peak gateway resort

This behemoth of a "resort" sadly won't stop the floods in and around Chesterfield now and in the future, money being spent that is needed before all these pie in the sky ideas.
At least if it floods they can always get some sand in and then pretend its Skegness, i have a suggestion for a new name for it THE LAST RESORT seems to have an appropriate ring to it.

a pessimist is a title that cynics give to a realist.

Well it's finally started... the Peak gateway "resort" at Sheepbridge. According to the D.T.it's the "long awaited" £1billion pound project.

They aren't kidding when they say it's long awaited, when was working for a company {on sheebridge trad est} the staff were always talking about it and a few said when built they would apply for jobs there, I left that job in 2008 so this has been in the pipeline for what 18 years?? so you can imagine if they had started and built it in 2008 just think of the cost compared to today, it wouldn't surprise me to find it's doubled maybe even trebled.

"Fully implemented the resort would sustain thousands of jobs". That's a bold statement, I'm assuming they include auxiliary and support staff such as deliveries and the like in that.

Looks like things are starting to unravel in La La Land. According to the news shares in Tesla seem to be on the slide and there's a big drop in Tesla sales {and that's in the U.S. alone}

For some reason, that is best known to Trump, he's still blaming Ukraine for the war and can't understand why Zelensky doesn't broker a peace deal with Russia to end it, after all Russia only wants a third of Ukraine plus Crimea so what's the hold up!

I still maintain Trump and Putin have got their heads together and are planning to divide Ukraine up between them, no one in their right mind sees Ukraine as the aggressor.

I think they have as well but if Trump thinks he can cosy up to Putin he's making a big mistake. he says one thing and does another!!

Had to make a conscious decision and ended up back with Hastings direct having not heard from my insurer about my renewal.

Paid a little more than i wanted to but had no choice. Went on a site {Sterling} that said give us your phone number and tell us when to ring you, I picked the Monday just gone at 1:00 p.m. they rang yesterday afternoon {not a good sign} and they came back with a quote just over £500 I told them no way, in fact Direct lines quote was cheaper than that.

Ended up paying £330 to Hastings.

I've stayed with the same firm this year for car insurance.
It's come down £80.

Back on the merry go round of car insurance sites.

Still waiting for my insurers renewal quote, been looking on other sites for quotes, only trouble is when you get one that gives you a list of companies and their quotes if you leave it for a day and then go back the majority have increased their prices. Having put in my details each of these sites has a quote from the company I'm with, the price ranges from £25 more than last year to £50 more.

Martin Lewis says premiums have dropped by 16% this year compared to last so no one should be paying more for like to like policies, yeah try telling that to the companies, I found one the other day went back the next day it had increased by £25, went back today and another £10 had been added, this is where these companies have you if you don't sign up as soon as you see it they just put up the price.
Even tried Direct Line their cheapest quote was £100 more than I paid last year with only half the benefits, their top quote with all the benefits  was £250 more than last year, followed very closely by Admiral then Saga.

I thought I'd re visit this post since M&S, the Coop and Harrods are all having trouble with hackers.

I've visited my bank a few extra times over the month to draw out more cash as we've started paying by cash when we shop wherever possible and keeping my c/c payments down to a minimum. Cash may seem a dirty word nowadays but it's been the way of paying for hundreds of years that has always been relied on, besides there are still small businesses that welcome cash as I believe they have to pay to have a c/c machine.

Lets go back to cash, we're not going back to the dark ages, the world won't grind to a halt because of it.

So Trump is planning to re open Alcatraz! To house the most dangerous criminals.

Never thought I'd say this but good for him, now he's using his noddle.
