I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Doesn't look much different apart from perhaps a greater emphasis on selling prints. Offered them a picture a few years ago that was over hundred years old but the procedure was quite bureaucratic so I didn't bother in the end (the butchers shop on Chatsworth Road that belonged to my great grandparents)

Just for the record, I emailed them last week about copyright issues. eg: using their photo's on here.
They haven't been back in touch with me yet.

Had a look at some old  Bolsover photo's earlier.
Had to ask Our_Lass's mum what one of the shops was.
The photo was taken in 1987  :o and we couldn't remember lol

First section: "The Picture the Past website has looked the same since it was launched over ten years ago so we decided it was time it was updated and given a new, smarter look. We haven't made any changes to the way the site works or search methods so you will still be able to find your favourite images. We've just given it a bit of a 'makeover'."

Got a reply from PTP today. I'm sure we can comply with their requests. Many thanks www.picturethepast.org.uk

Hi Barry

Thank you for your e-mail about people posting our pictures on your forum. We have no problem with people using and enjoying our images and are happy to help support the aims of the forum by allowing them to place images or links to images on there as long as the images are acknowledged appropriately. Our official line is:

‘We do allow the use of up to ten low-resolution images copied from the website in non-commercial publications such as yours as long as you include a clear acknowledgement that the image came from Picture the Past together with the address of our website www.picturethepast.org.uk. We also ask that you ensure that each of the images used is credited with whatever name appears in the 'Credit' field on the website.’

Like you, we are also no-profit making and, basically, exist to enable people to enjoy the pictures so I wouldn’t object if people ended up sharing more than the ten-image limit, as long as it wasn’t abused. It’s our hope that people will go on to visit our website, enjoy the pictures for themselves and perhaps buy a copy as a present which goes to help continue the conservation work we do.

Many thanks
