Three-year-old died from lack of water
« on: February 14, 2013, 03:01:20 PM »
Mylee Ward, a three-year-old girl, died of dehydration after a doctor failed to carry out basic checks, an inquest heard.

Apparently the child had not eaten or had anything to drink for three days, but the doctor at Chesterfield Hospital didn't do basic blood or urine tests. He sent her home at one in the morning with antibiotics.

Said coroner Robert Hunter, "These are basic medical checks, nothing complex or sophisticated. Had she been admitted and fluids given, on balance she would have survived.”

This is so sad.

And if they are missing basic checks, what about the more complicated stuff?

That is a terrible story so very very sad.  :(
So many hospitals these days are failing people makes me scared to think what trust we have to put in these places and the staff.

And I hope they win.

They reckon about 90% of doctors and nurses actually do care about the patients and the job they do.   That leaves 10% who dont.  10% too many IMO.
