Another train crossing fatality
« on: March 21, 2013, 01:02:16 PM »
Apparently the barriers were down and the crossing working properly.  Yes its sad news that someone has been killed but its a harsh reality.

If you are going to cross a crossing when the barriers are down and lights are showing, a car vs train, theres only ever going to be one outcome.  Train wins every time

When will people learn?

Is it that some think can 'race' the train - or do they just think it won't happen to them.
Simon I take it they were on foot? Didn't ramraid the barrier

That's one hell of a mashed car, total waste of life for a few minutes  :'(

The bus driver in the other link wants banging up.  What about passengers  :o

If its a case of trying to get across it before the barriers, minimum should be job loss and dangerous driving.

I presume you mean the Bus driver.
He'll be sacked and on benefit's now. Trauma caused by the barriers coming down on his bus. Classic !!
I stamped on the brakes but the bus didn't stop, told them last week this bus's brakes were dodgy !!

Yes the bus driver.  Im sure its covered by CCTV so no doubt anything he said will be proven or disproven.  Still he needs to be strung up for putting passengers at risk.

Absolutely right - he/she will certainly be suspended or sacked (gross misconduct).
Quite right too (I'm a bus driver) - I would not subject my passengers to a game of "Chicken" with a train - only one loser, thats the bus.And passengers of course :(
The only case in  the bus drivers favour is sudden brake failure, in which case he/she might not be at fault, but rigorous testing of the vehicle will no doubt be ongoing.
Time will tell I suppose.
