I got this email today about Paul Dacre, the Daily Mail's editor.
More than 90,000 of you have publicly joined my call for the editor of the Daily Mail, Paul Dacre, to have a TV debate with me or a professional broadcast interviewer about the Ralph Milliband story and the role of the Mail in public life.
So far this man who exploits a daily platform to spout his views has gone to ground, and confirmed that while he expects everyone in public life to be under the Mail's malevolent microscope he is terrified of any scrutiny himself. I wonder why.
Yesterday Channel Four News journalist Alex Thomson tried to doorstep Dacre. Here’s what happened:

I’m keeping the petition open for one more week to give this bullying coward a chance to explain himself and if not then I guess we can say he has totally bottled it. We can at least satisfy ourselves that for a short time at least he has been exposed to a fraction of the scrutiny and tactics employed by his papers on a daily basis.I love the bit in the video where Dacre sees a Channel 4 reporter outside his house and promptly reverses the car and runs away - only to have a man show up a few minutes later to collect an overnight bag. Typical right winger hiding from the public instead of explaining himself - thank goodness for Alistair Campbell, not afraid to debate the issue in public.
