Council gives Go Outdoors planning permission
« on: September 16, 2013, 06:22:28 PM »
The council planners have passed an application for Sheffield based Go Outdoors to take over the old Tesco site for their new headquarters. The move will create 150 new jobs. :)
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Yep - that's what they do - and very good at it too.

It's great that the site next to our depot will no longer be a derelict mess, I've worked there that long I was there before the old Tesco was built.

Having said that when the rest of Waterside takes off we'll be on the move.

Go Outdoors seem to have stores ranging from superstore size down to a small shop in Hathersage

>> a small shop in Hathersage

That was where I first saw them - although I think they operated under a different name before changing to Go Outdoors.

I went buy a waterproof jacket to stick in my rucksack for the unexpected summer shower - and a few bits and bobs. The lady serving said if we joined their mailing list thingy we could have a percentage off. Saved a few bob and was never bothered since.

Been to the one in Sheff last year. A bit badly placed on a back St off Bramall Lane.
Nice position in town for a new telly advert campaign. It's only down the road and on the main ring road.

That's what I remembered - but cannot remember the name - might have been CCC, not sure.

There's another place opposite the end of Brammal Lane, on Arrundel Gate. Not googled it and can't remember it's name.

According to the DT, Go Outdoors aren't exactly jumping up and down at the news. I wonder if they're hoping that Sheffield City Council will offer them a better deal to keep the jobs there.

Apparently its not going to happen.

News story on the DT website today says Go Outdoors will not be coming to Chesterfield after all.

Also some motor car company has applied for some sort of permission for the site.

Haven't we got enough flipping Motor car companies in that area of Chesterfield already.

What about a large seconds retail clothes shop to give Tesco's and Primark a bit of competition.
