Gold medal winners have been getting a post box in their home-town sprayed gold by the post office as a mark of respect.
In Sheffield one was sprayed as a tribute to Jessica Ennis.
Some pillock has now sprayed graffiti all over it. What does this say about the dipshit idiots that live in Sheffield. I say that as a Sheffielder, and it explains why I emigrated over the border.

Typical Sheffielder - I know, I married one!  :(

Seriously though, it's a shame that a spectacular performance by the lass means nothing to those gits.  >:(
I started out with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

It was covered over straight away by SCC.

Whoever did it should be ashamed.  Named and shamed too.

Were not totally cleuless. Digital flat screen in the room and all over the hotel. The medal stats suck though. Russia have more than us. We just happen to be 3rd in gold. Were 4th overall.

Anyone else have a lump in their throats watching the mens marathon, or was it just me?

the Americans tried that one in Beijing. The medal table has always been ranked in terms of how many gold medals a country won. Beijing, the Chinese has more golds but the Americans started making noises that the table should be ranked in overall terms because surprise surprise they had the most medals.

Quite correct as did Manchester United in 1999 and  Chelsea in 2012.
The 'Champions League' should only be contested by 'The Champions' but UEFA are never going to sanction a competition (aka a money making exercise) that this year would not include the Mancs, Barcelona or either Milan team same as they won't sanction one with a format that might see one of the 'giants' go out early

We also did it in 1978 and Forest did it in 1980 but we and they were the holders back in the day when it was a proper competition.

3rd in the table with 29 Golds isnt bad going at all considering we only got 19 in Beijing.

The table is slightly unfair anyway, USA and China sent a damn sight more athletes than we did so all in all id say we are quite fairly matched.

Yep, good job the closing ceremony people weren't subject to the dope testing that the athletes were, George Michael, Kate Moss, etc.

A couple of weeks back I knew nothing about the Olympics. Now I can't wait for next years.
