General Election?
« on: September 10, 2012, 07:57:24 PM »
With current coalition's inability to make any real progress with the recession - and the threat of industrial unrest and strikes on the cards, would it not be a good idea to have a General Election and get a one party government again?

Do we really want to go through the pain of reliving the past again and again like a demented Groundhog Day?

Just askin'...

There is no longer the provision in the constitution for a general election to be held on any date other than May/June of 2015.
Unless Parliament votes for one and the only way that happens is if the Lib Dems walk away from the coalition. Which right at this minute would be like turkeys voting for Christmas!!
So we are stuck with this situation for the next 2 and a bit years.

If confidence returned, I don't care if it was the Monster Raving Looney Party...  :P

A general election today would be fantastic if only there was someone to vote for.
I may have issues with the coalition, but having Labour back in power would be like "out of the frying pan, into the bowels of hell"

And Yes, confidence is everything.
