1: A boat floats in the harbour at low tide.  A ladder is fixed to the side of the boat and five rungs are showing above the water      line.  If the rungs are 20cm apart and the sea level rises by 35cm per hour, how many rungs will be showing after 2.5 hours?

2:  A primary school class has 7 students this year.  How can the desks be arranged so there can be six rows each with three students?

3:  Mrs Brown buys 5 apples but she has 6 children, herself and her husband to feed.  How does she share the fruit equally between all the family members?

4:  A snail starts to climb a wall which is 10m high.  The snail climbs 3m per day, but slips back 2m each night.  How many days does it take to reach the top?

5:  How may drops of wine can be put into an empty wine glass?

I've got all 5.
JR, I found no2 relatively easy but have doubts about no3.
We need a way we can post our answers which don't give them away to those  who don't want to know, but show we've got something, I think I will just post mine at lunch time when I get back.

1) 5, as the tide rises, so does the boat and the ladder.
2) I originally came up with this answer at 8.00 this morning, half asleep, but now I think its wrong but my answer is;
You form a wheel with the desks. 1 is in the center, the other six around the outside, spaced equally. So now each of the 7 pupils has a desk. There are 6 spokes from the center to the outer desks, 6 rows. However, as you look down any line, across the wheel, there are 3 desks in a row.
3) This is obviously a trick. Simply dividing 6 apples between 8 people means each would get 62.5% of apple but thats too easy. Maybe Mrs Brown already had 2 apples before buying the other 6, so each gets one. Or maybe 2 of the children are still on the bottle, so the remaining six members get an apple each...I don't know.
4) 8 days.

Here's an old one:

There are 2 doors to choose from. One entrance contains vast wealth, entering the other will get you arrested and imprisoned. Each door has a guard. One always tells the truth, one always lies. The guards know which room is which. What one question can you ask to ensure you choose the room with the wealth?
