Christmas Traditions

Many families have their own little traditions/routines over Christmas, all go to mums or out for lunch Christmas day etc.
Ours used to be very different years ago but has changed over the years.
Now we don't have any children over Christmas ---
Ours is Christmas Eve we go out for a meal, and go to the cinema. I prepare the veg etc and these days we open our gifts after midnight with a drink or two
Christmas day is a late lunch followed by a buffet supper with more booze.
Boxing day is much the same for us these days but do enjoy a walk if the weather is fine.

One little tradition, 'I', have always done with my partner of the time, is to open 1 present before bedtime.
Usually about 11-12pm xmas eve.

Not really a family tradition. Just something I've always done since leaving home and having family.
Which is fine, as long as you have more then one pressie for those included

@ Fly that's what we used to do when we had teenagers living with us, they were allowed to choose one! I always hoped it wasn't the main pressie. Also Christmas Day was the ONLY DAY I allowed the children to have chocolate for breakfast ( I did limit it though). I always have toast - to soak up the previous nights wine of course

Go to the wifes mum,every year without fail she moved up here from Oxford 30 odd years back ,my family are local so can see them anytime ,kids are grown up and live close by we have a day with them now at their houses .

We held a great party in a big marquee that was decorated with beautiful lighting. We had also some dancers who entertain us with dance. It was really great fun for every age of person, minimum i enjoyed it a lot.

For 30+ years we had a family Christmas at home with me doing all the hard work which such occasions involve.  Now, our family has shrunk till there's only 4 of us left so this year we went away for a couple of nights.   It would be nice if that could become a tradition.

Aitch that is what I would like to do, but having cat and daughter I doubt that will happen.
