If I were the accused and not guilty, I would sooner have a jury trial here than any other sort of trial in any other country on Earth. In this case it seems to come down to two possibles - either she suffered a powerful amount of marital coercion that rendered her helplessly incapable of exercising her own judgement, or she rather liked the idea of being married to an MP on an MP's salary and expenses. As much as I think Huhne is a shit of the highest order, I also think the "marital coercion" defence is laughable, in the case of this clearly independently-minded woman.
